John Reid
After
graduating from the University of St Andrews with a Physics
degree
in 1976, John entered the market research world as a statistician
working for AGB in London across their range of continuous
panel monitors. After two years he transferred divisions to work
on the development of the first continuous consumer panel monitor,
AGB Index, which focussed on the retail financial services markets.
In 1984, he
left AGB to launch a continuous monitor of retail financial services
markets (the Financial Research Survey) with National Opinion
Polls, another leading UK agency. This proved very successful,
gradually acquiring virtually every major financial institution
in the UK as clients.
In 1992, John set up MORI Financial Services in association with Market & Opinion
Research International (MORI), which was then the UK’s largest independent
research agency. The service was developed to include monitors of opinion formers
such as journalists, the City and MPs, with the client base gradually expanding
outside the financial services market to cover a broader range of organisations.
In 2004, John moved to Australia to set up Opinion Leaders on a similar model
to that which he developed successfully in the UK with MORI.
